  1. *Eisteddfods; Much like the Welsh original, eisteddfods are competitions that involve testing individuals for singing, dancing, acting and musicianship.

  2. *Australia holds many Eisteddfods, usually yearly, local, regional and statewide mostly for dance & speech/drama.

  3. *This photo (right) is one of my earliest memories of performing in an Eisteddfod in Maryborough, Queensland at the town hall. It was a tap dance routine to The Tennessee Waltz. I’m a chicken! I shared the stage with other chickens. I still mostly remember the routine.

    Rebecca has been a member of AEA & SAG (now SAG-AFTRA) in the US since 1995 and in Australia since 1983.  She has worked in theatre,  film and television in Australia, London, and the US.


     She has 3 Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle awards & 5 nominations.

    Born in QLD, Australia Rebecca has began performing onstage at around 5 years old (as a tap dancing chicken! see below) She studied ballet, tap, jazz ballet etc. in her hometown of Maryborough, completing Royal Academy of Dance syllabus classical ballet examinations, participating in dance recitals and competing in local Eisteddfods for dance and ‘Speech & Drama’* .


     Eisteddfods (see below) . Her Mum, Del inspired her with a love of language & literature and entered her into the competitions for speaking verse & prose passages, character monologues, & impromptu reading. At the end of a weeklong competition a scholarship for classes was awarded to the Best Overall Competitor which Rebecca was first awarded at age 11 & in subsequent Eisteddfods earned much needed tuition fees!


    Rebecca appeared in her first leading role in a play when she was 16 as Gigi in the play of the same name by Anita Loos.


    After attending university in Brisbane (for a BA in English/Drama), Rebecca gained an Associate Degree in Speech/Drama (teacher) with Distinction, achieving the highest grade in the state.















   



        Stage, film and t.v. work in Sydney, Melbourne, London and the US followed...including 12 months on the cult Aussie soap/drama Prisoner Cell Block H as Vicki McPherson.


    Her recent work includes Margie Walsh (a lifelong resident of Southie, a blue collar Boston neighborhood) in Good People (David Lindsay-Abaire’s Pulitzer Finalist play), for American Stage Company in St. Petersburg, FL, again with Stephanie Gularte who directed her in the role for Capital Stage Company in Sacramento 2 years prior. Before that, Sam in Marisa Wegryzn’s hit play out of Chicago Mud Blue Sky,  Jane in Fallen Angels (Noel Coward), Sarah Goodwin in Time Stands Still (Donald Margulies’ masterful play about a war photographer), The 39 Steps & Veronica in Yazmina Reza’s incredible hit, God of Carnage. 


    Some of her favorite roles include Alexa Vere de Vere (As Bees In Honey Drown), Rosalind (As You Like It), Ruth (The Homecoming), Lorraine Sheldon (The Man Who Came To Dinner),  Liz Essendine (Present Laughter) & Annie (The Real Thing)  She has appeared for Kansas City Repertory Theatre as Haley Walker in the one-woman show Bad Dates and worked as an actress and a director for the Lake Tahoe and San Francisco Shakespeare Festivals where her roles included Beatrice (Much Ado about Nothing), Kate (Taming of the Shrew), and Lady Macbeth (Macbeth).  She has appeared for Aurora Theatre Company, Berkeley, San Jose, and South Coast Repertory Theatres, Magic and B Street Theatres, the The Laguna Playhouse...


Critics Circle awards & 5 nominations.
